Overview

Kate is an excellent Probate Solicitor.  She joined the firm of Hogan Dowling McNamara Solicitors LLP in 2017. Her main areas of expertise are Wills, Probate, Licensing and Conveyancing. She was employed by a large Accountancy firm in Limerick in 2013 and worked there until 2014 in conjunction with the Tax Department. In 2013 Kate also studied Human Resource Management in The Kemmy Business School in the University of Limerick.  Kate worked as a general practitioner with a long-established Limerick firm of Solicitors from 2004 to March 2013.

Kate was admitted as a solicitor in Hilary Term 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Hons, 2000) from UCD, a Bachelor of Laws degree (Hons, 2002) from the University of Limerick, a Diploma in Family Law (2011) from the Law Society of Ireland.

Licensing Matters

Kate has extensive experience with all matters relating to intoxicating liquor licensing. Including acquisition, transfers, revival, ad Interim transfers of licences as well as applications to alter licensed areas. She has successfully defended an objection to a dance licence renewal in the District Court. She deals with club renewals, dance licences, special exemptions together with music and singing licences. Kate has also dealt with all licensing and associated matters in relation to the acquisition of licensed premises including review of leases and title documentation

Debt Collection

Kate has registered judgments for clients in debt recovery proceedings, drafted pleadings including summonses, civil bills, motions and grounding affidavits, appearing before the County Registrar and before the District and Circuit Court, She has covered all aspects of debt recovery, in all Courts, from initial letter through to committal order applications, registration of judgment mortgages and garnishee orders. Kate was engaged by a corporate client to recover debts from over 3000 debtors over a period of a year.

Probate, Wills and Administration of Estates

Kate has dealt with a large probate case load including drafting of Wills and Trusts and Powers of Attorney as well as estate planning matters. Kate has extracted all types of Grants including Grants of Probate/Administration/Letter of Administration DBN. She has also been involved in S.117 of the Succession Act claims. Dealing with the division of assets between beneficiaries. Vesting property in beneficiaries including drafting and registration of assents.

Conveyancing

Drafting Contracts for Sale, Deeds of Transfer, and Replying to Requisitions on Title, I have investigated titles, prepared closing documents and prepared mortgage documentation. Negotiating terms of sale and special conditions of contracts. Examination of mortgage terms and conditions. Explanation of special conditions to clients and implications of same. Ensuring timely discharge of stamp duty. Registration of title with Land Registry or Registry of Deeds including applications for first registrations with the Land Registry – Certify title to relevant financial institution. Liaising with lending institutions in relation to finance for individuals and developers/building companies.
